Portrait

Here I have captured my best friend in nature looking straight into the camera. I tried to portray "Black Magic" or "Black Beauty" as some would call it, hence the glasses and durag (traditionally worn by people of darker complexions). I wanted her to be a representation of the black community and to show how serious (the mood of this picture) they are and also the beauty they possess. My viewers could learn that to convey a message a picture does not have to be thought out and look creative to an unrealistic standard. Sometimes the little things (such as eye placement) can speak a thousands words itself, it's all about how it is conveyed.

Depth of Field

The focal point shift provided more clarity into the two different objects. In the one to the left the drawing is more visible and you can see all the lines and creases of the drawing. However in the one to the right you notice the rose more and how it has a lot more color than in the first one.

Art Wolfe is an a Caucasian 67 year old American photographer and conservationist who was born in Seattle on September 1951. He has won many awards and is mainly known for his photography in landscapes, wildlife, and native cultures in over hundreds of locations. . The images are very breathtaking as you can see  from above. Not only is he gifted with a camera but he has a plethora of books and two TV shows. His success in the industry has been continuous for five decades, he has practically devoted his life for this career. Has Bachelor’s degrees in fine arts and art education in 1975 from University of Washington.
I picked this artist primarily for his name, but also due to looking at his photos that pertain to nature. The pictures are just pure pieces of art that I could look at for a long amount of time. He does not discriminate when it comes to photography, he just tries to make pieces of art. Unlike other artists, who narrow down their pictures to one topic and one audience. I enjoy how versatile the photographer is.
